Turning ambition into opportunity—from the place they grew up.

Homegrown is a scholarship and Leadership & Career Accelerator built for high-achieving students from underrepresented backgrounds. The program is led by Veer Shah and Dr. Derek Huell—giving back the mentorship, playbooks, and momentum they've built since high school. Our inaugural cohort serves students in Georgia, where Veer and Derek both grew up.

Through monthly leadership sessions and behind-the-scenes exposure to careers across medicine, finance, law, startups, and professional sports, students gain a practical understanding of what it takes to win in college and beyond.

Homegrown also helps cover the college application process for selected students. Fundraising is in progress to meet that goal—including significant personal commitments from Veer and Derek—covering ACT/SAT exams, application fees, and related expenses, so students can put their best foot forward without financial barriers.

Four pillars, built for the long arc.

i.

Monthly Leadership Sessions

Structured curriculum covering the skills, frameworks, and mindsets that compound over a career—delivered by mentors who've lived them.

ii.

Career Exposure

Behind-the-scenes access across medicine, finance, law, startups, and professional sports—so students see what real paths look like, not just titles.

iii.

Application Support

Funding for ACT/SAT exam fees, college application fees, and other application-related costs that quietly close doors for talented students.

iv.

Mentorship That Lasts

Direct, ongoing guidance from Veer and Derek—and a network designed to support students through college and the years after.

Two CHS alumni, giving back what got them here.
